Mindful moments in the sea of trees of the Mühlviertel Bohemian Forest...
LOVE IS… FOREST BATHING & STROLLING WITH JOY through pure nature.
“My whole soul clings to this region,” wrote poet Adalbert Stifter about his homeland, the Bohemian Forest. The landscapes of stone and forest inspired many of his works, such as Colorful Stones and The High Forest. No surprise: our Bohemian Forest, untouched and nestled in a former border area (formerly the Iron Curtain), radiates a magic and power that’s hard to resist.
Today, walking, hiking, and consciously “breathing deeply” among the trees, across soft moss and earth, is known as forest bathing. A stay in the forest has been scientifically proven to promote well-being. Studies show that bioactive compounds strengthen the immune system and significantly reduce stress hormones. Body, mind, and spirit relax, vitality is stimulated, and happiness hormones are released.

At the Gateway to the Bohemian Forest
This hilly region, roughly 120 kilometers long and up to 50 kilometers wide, stretches across the Mühlviertel, the Czech Republic, and southern Bavaria. Millions of years ago, the Bohemian Forest was shaped by high mountains – today, its contours are softer and more gentle. Just behind the BERGERGUT, the forest invites you to experience nature with all your senses: soft forest floor, lively birdsong, and lush green blueberry bushes.
Meditation & Body Exercises
In the 680-square-kilometer Bohemian Forest in the Mühlviertel, there are many ways to experience forest bathing: from gentle walks through the woods and meditation to Wyda – Celtic body exercises in nature. No matter which path you choose, time in the forest means breaking away from everyday life, switching off, and grounding yourself. The soft green of the trees, the essential oils of fir and spruce needles, the scent of delicate blossoms, the fresh forest air, the chirping of crickets in sunlit clearings, and the peaceful seclusion all contribute to the experience.
Power Spots in the Mühlviertel
Forest bathing in the Bohemian Forest can also mean visiting one of the many energy spots in the Mühlviertel. The region has the highest concentration of so-called “bowl stones” in Europe. These often spectacular granite formations were revered as healing places in earlier times. Even today, people are drawn to these powerful sites to recharge – whether to relax, sharpen their senses, stimulate self-healing, or simply enjoy peace and silence.
