In the “Beer Quarter” Mühlviertel:
BEER VARIETY AT BERGERGUT
Did you know that our homeland, the Mühlviertel, is one of the largest and highest-quality hop suppliers in the German-speaking world? Together with our neighboring regions of South Bohemia and Lower Bavaria, we form the unique Three-Country BEER-WORLD REGION. The impressive quality and diversity of our area—from hop farmers to exceptional breweries—is truly remarkable.
When it comes to “hops & malt,” there’s a lot to discover in our surroundings. For example, the unique and internationally renowned quality breweries Stift Schlägl, Freistadt, and Hofstetten. Or the neighboring brew boutique founded by the ancestors of our hosts. You can read more about it below—or better yet, let us share the story with you in person during your stay.
WINE PASSION
Of course, it’s not all about beer. As the saying goes: “Life is too short to drink bad wine!” Or none at all. That’s what our sommeliers believe—and so do we. Naturally, we place great value on a refined wine culture. And in general, on the contents of your glass and ours: from non-alcoholic “sparkling tea” to fine Mühlviertel whisky.
In the cooler months, we open our rustic wine cellar for you several times a week. These walls are among the oldest in our house. Bergergut’s ancestors once stored potatoes and local cider here. Today, our guests enjoy fine wines in the same cellar as the perfect end to a delicious evening...
Craft Beer and Show Brewery “Die Brau-Boutique”
Opening Hours:
Thursday–Saturday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM;
Sundays and public holidays: 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM;
For groups, also available by individual arrangement
Romantic Wine Cellar
As mentioned, in the 19th century, our wine cellar used to store potatoes and Bergergut cider — back when we were still a working farm and weaving mill.
Today, we preserve fine wines here for you. Mostly Austrians, but also classic French, spirited Italians, and intriguing newcomers from the world of wine.
We especially love to open our doors for cozy evenings. For your group, for instance during birthday or wedding celebrations. And regularly for our hotel guests, when it gets too chilly out on the terrace again. That’s when our wine lovers, gourmets, and romantics enjoy especially charming evenings after dinner… And if you’re lucky, our host Eva-Maria might share the exciting and very personal BERGERGUT family story on one of those nights... Always a delight, we can assure you! ;-)
